  • Project: Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline
  • Scope: Administration Building, LV Switch Room, and Pump Building
  • Material: Lightweight Precision-Engineered Steel

Project Overview: Supporting Large-Scale Utility Infrastructure

Manuframe was engaged by the McConnell Dowell and BMD Joint Venture (MBJV) to design and supply a comprehensive steel framing package for the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline project. This major infrastructure initiative required a multi-site scope, providing structural solutions for several critical facilities along the pipeline route.

Multi-Site Engineering and Structural Versatility

The scale of the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline demanded a framing partner that could provide consistency across diverse building types. Our lightweight steel framing solutions were engineered to meet the unique needs of each structure:

  • Administration Building: We designed a robust frame that allowed for flexible internal partitioning and high-end finishing works for the project’s headquarters.
  • Specialised Industrial Structures: The LV switch room and pump building frames were engineered to support heavy mechanical and electrical services, ensuring all infrastructure met strict industrial safety codes.
  • Service Integration: All frames featured precision pre-punched service holes, allowing for the seamless installation of complex electrical and data networks across all sites.

Efficiency and Quality for Joint Venture Projects

When working with major contractors like McConnell Dowell and BMD, program certainty is essential. Manuframe’s prefabricated steel frames provided several key advantages for the MBJV team:

  1. Rapid Site Assembly: Because the frames were manufactured in our Rockhampton workshop to exact 3D models, on-site assembly was fast and error-free, keeping the project on schedule.
  2. Structural Reliability: Steel’s dimensional stability ensures that critical infrastructure, like switch rooms, remains perfectly square and protected from the warping or shifting common with other materials.
  3. Local Logistics: Being based in Central Queensland allowed us to manage the logistics of multi-site deliveries efficiently, reducing transport costs and lead times.
