Project Overview: Flexible Educational Infrastructure for Regional Queensland

Manuframe was proud to partner with St Brendan’s College to design and manufacture the structural framing for a new, modern classroom block. Educational facilities require a unique balance of durability, safety, and long-term versatility to keep up with growing student numbers and evolving teaching methods.

Engineering for Future Flexibility and Redeployment

The standout feature of this project was the requirement for future-proof design. St Brendan’s College needed a high-quality learning environment that wasn’t necessarily permanent in its current location. Our framing system was engineered with two core goals:

  • Modular Construction: The classroom was designed and built in sections to allow for rapid on-site assembly, minimising disruption to the school term and student activities.
  • Redeployable Design: Unlike traditional builds, these steel frames were engineered to allow the entire building to be relocated if the college’s campus master plan changes. The structural integrity remains intact during transport, ensuring the building meets all compliance codes in its new location.

Why Schools Choose Steel Framing

For educational institutions, the “bones” of the building matter for safety and maintenance budgets. By using TRUECORE® steel, Manuframe provided St Brendan’s College with several long-term advantages:

  1. Durable & Low Maintenance: Steel frames don’t warp or sag, meaning classroom doors and windows continue to operate perfectly despite heavy daily use by students.
  2. Termite-Proof Security: Schools are often located on large, landscaped campuses where termites are a constant threat. Steel eliminates the risk of structural damage and the need for disruptive chemical treatments.
  3. Fire Resilience: As a non-combustible material, steel provides an added layer of safety for students and staff, often helping to satisfy strict institutional insurance requirements.
